What Are You Reading?

Post by Axioanarchist on Tue Dec 09, 2008 10:07 pm

It's like "What Are You Listening To?" but it's whichever book you have your nose buried in at the moment.

For the time being for me, it's split between the "Sword of Truth" series (AKA "Legend of the Seeker") by Terry Goodkind - of which I'm currently on the second book, Stone of Tears - and re-reading Steven King's "Dark Tower" epic. Recommend both to anyone who likes fantasy fiction even a little.

Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke

I'm a sucker for most anything Clarke, so re-reading the first of his books I read after years of not is hella nostalgic.

Time to revive this thing.

I finished reading 1984, and am now reading Fahrenheit 451.

Black Cat (Volume 6) by Kentaro Yabuki. I know. It's a manga. I've done all my heavy literature reading back in high school.

Moby Dick, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Romeo and Juliet, Beowulf, 90% of the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, The Prydain Chronicles (The Book of Three, The Black Cauldron, The High King, etc.; there's five books in all, but I can't remember two of the titles), Peter Pan, The Time Machine (original H.G. Wells version), Where the Red Fern Grows, The Outsiders, and a whole bunch more that I can't remember at the moment. I was a major bookworm in high school.

My manga collection is extensive. Ones I've read of those so far are:

Rurouni Kenshin, Buso Renkin, A.I. Love You, Ai Yori Aoshi, Love Hina, The GetBackers, Chobits, Bleach, Ranma 1/2, Dragon Drive, DeathNote, Naruto, Trigun, Trigun MAXIMUM, .HACK, and quite a few others that escape my mind at the moment. I probably have nearly 200 volumes total. Yeaaaaah, the guys at the Anime shop know me by name and call me up whenever a new series they think I'd like comes out.

If we had a real bookstore out here, they'd probably know me, too, and I'd be reading more actual novels instead of manga.
